With an area of 3122 hectares, in 12.10.1953, by the Law n° 2192, was created the State Park of Vila Velha. In 1966 the joint Vila Velha was overthrown by the Department of the Historic and Artistic Patimony of the State.
The Park is covered, in its bigger part for natural fields. It shelters a varied fauna: wolves-guará (already rare), jaguatiricas, quatis, iraras, ferret, legs, deer, armadillos, prick-woods, doves, partridges, tamanduas-bandeira and mirins, diverse types of birds, etc. Nowadays it is under the administration of the Paraná Tourism, and is divided in 3 distinct areas:
• Arenitos: Extraordinary work of nature sculptured for the time, a region that has years was covered by ice 340 million ago. After the thawing, the great sand deposit displayed to the action of rains and the winds that had given the origin of the gigantic figures in the sandstone, as camel, indian, fiancé, bottle, boot, Sphinx and the famous goblet.
• Furnas: Known as "Hell?s cauldron" they are circular craters with approximately 100 meters depth and a volume of water that reaches the half of this depth. In one of them a panoramic elevator was constructed to give access to its interior on a floating platform. Furnas had its origin in the structure failed and piecemeal of the sandstone that concentrates and guides the circulation of underground waters through canals in torrential regimen, opening, for the disaggregation and removal of the sand in depth, great anphitheater shaped like a dome on the lines of the fails or in the intercessions with transversal breakings.
• Lagoa Dourada: The Golden Lagoon with its 320 m diameter and 3 m maximum depth, has a special enchantment, mainly at twilight, when reflected by the sun, its waters become golden. Around it the vegetation is dense and of great postage. The Golden Lagoon has the same origin of the Furnas, having an underground linking between them through a underground sheet. The level of its waters is the same of the Furnas, occurring, however, an unevenness of the ground, reason that the same ones are constitute in deep craters. But, the Lagoon can be considered one senile crater, therefore, with the great wear that receives, according to the specialists, it is already in the extinguishing phase.

Its name is related to the history of the Jesuits who had been in the place. With the purpose to convert souls for the Christianity, the Jesuits worked with the indians of the Umaitá tradition and in the region of the General Fields with the indians of the Umbu tradition.
The name "Buraco do Padre" is due to the customs of the Jesuit priests to go direct to the high plateau, for concentration, meditation or to rest. It is like an underground amphiteather. It presents in its interior an imponent cascade, formed for the River Quebra Perna. Although it present itself in a different way, due to the opening in the base, the Buraco do Padreia also a crater. From the parking to the interior of the crater,there is a passage of 1 km. Part of the way is made by a forest. The track is of an easy passage. It is situated in the District of Itaiacoca, 26 downtown km from Ponta Grossa.
The São Jorge River is a limpid and beautiful course of water, that slides between rocks, forming some waterfalls that are part of a flaring scene. In the place people can know the gorgeous waterfall that has a water cannon approximately25 m height, and pre-historic paintings of about 7000 years. It situated from downtown 15 km. In the 40?s, the River Pitangui was dammed, giving origin to a great lake popularly called Alagados. Beyond its hidro importance for the city, the region of entorno is gorgeous, being excellent for the leisure and the contemplative tourism. The lake is rich in fishes, a good place to fishing addicts. Swimming, rowing, wind-surf, extend the motivations of the place. It is situated from 20 km downtown, on this area of ambient preservation that you can find the Yacht Club of Ponta Grossa. In the river source is forbidden to do activities and sports that compromise the environment (eg.: jet-ski).
After a beautiful passage for the region of Itaiacoca, passing for some country properties, arrive at the valley of the River Quebra Perna, where after to walk for a track tipped for formations of sandstone and capons of native bush you arrive at the gorgeous fall, of approximately 30 meters. The place does not possess snack bar nor sanitary.
The Recanto Botuquara is a leisure place located in one of the most beautiful regions of Ponta Grossa, that counts on some natural swimming pools, water slipways, lake for fishing and boats, tracks in the native bush, beside camping and other attractions. The area has snack bar, barbecue place, parking, and area for camping. The visitors can buy tickets at the place. Information: (42) 3224-3543 (Veterinary clinic).

Place of easy access, away of the city 16 km, in direction to the District of Itaiacoca by PR 513 (Highway of the Talco), only 1 km of secondary road. It consists in a natural health-resort with natural waterfalls, rapids and swimming pools. It has snack bars, simple sanitary and the parking is not structuralized.
The local was explored in the beginning of century XX as a quarry, where were took off raw material for the stone pavement of the public ways of the city. After the deactivation of the quarry, the space was recouped with the plantation of native and exotic trees. Thus this area popularly known as ?Chácara Dantas? was formed, and was transformed into an urban park.
Opened in Ocgtober, 28th ,1999 with the name of Marguerita Sannini Masini, the park has as purpose, beyond area for leisure, to make the population aware about the importance of the natural environment conservation and how these influence in the quality of life of the city. The Monastery of the Resurrection is a community of Benedictines monks located in the country area of Ponta Grossa. Established in 1981, it takes care of the innumerable religious and laypeople who as visiting or guests, they search, moments of collect, conjunct and direction spiritual. The Monks also works in the some atelier of the Monastery, producing liquors, handmade candles, objects in ceramic, paintings in diverse materials and liturgic clothes. Moreover, in the liquor house are are produced liquors created with formulas developed by monks, and kept in secret. In 1994, the Monastery became national known, due the special programs and news articles and the great diffusion of the Gregorian singing in Brazil and abroad. The seven CDs recorded for the Choir of the Monastery already sold more than 300,000 copies. There are many praying presentation during the day, and they are opened to the public during the day. The entrance is free.

The Museum was opened in 1983, in a building constructed in the decade of 20, which was the old forum of the Judicial district of Ponta Grossa, and still preserves its original architectural characteristic. It presents exposition of eclectic character, divided in sections as paleontology, aboriginal and regional environment, among others, and is supported by the State University of Ponta Grossa. The Museum has a collection, with objects which tells the history of some regions of Brazil, collection of old currencies, featuring two of gold, dated from 1772, swords used in the War of Argentina, radios, weapons, photos, diverse telephones, furniture and other historical objects of equal value. The house where the museum is installed date from the last century, about 1880 and presents architectural "Art Noveau" style. Phone: (42) 3223-1877. Constructed in 1729 by Jesuit priests who had received the Pitangui Farm as an ?Sesmaria?, the Saint Bárbara Chapel is a place surrounded by mysteries and legends, it received inhabitants from neighboring farms to receive the spiritual grass and to serve the travellers who covered the way of the ?tropeiros? at that time. The action of the time and the man damaged the historical temple seriously; in 2003 it was entirely restored by the Municipal City hall and the Federal Government.

Historic site of the city, the large house of 600 m² constructed in 1926 for Alberto Thielen, industrial, trader and figure of prominence in the history of Ponta Grossa, receives the name of his woman, Hilda Thielen. The architecturaFrench style of the house, shows two floors that sheltered the family and the servants of the house. The interior of the mansion presents perfect paintings which shows contrasts and colors, landscapes and European themes,and some local landscapes. Phone:. 3901-1590.
